Connecting Links Counseling
Phyllis Powers-Fata, LPC
THE CONNECTING LINKS STORY
After a successful ten-year career in New York City as a drug and alcohol prevention and intervention specialist, Phyllis relocated to the Grand Rapids area where she pursued her desire to work with adolescents and teens in a school-based counseling position for the past twenty years.
She has now turned to a private counseling practice to share her talents with families, adolescents, teens, and the senior population.
Established in 2018, Connecting Links is the culmination of decades of caring for clients and helping them connect with their potential.
When we are empathic, we can put ourselves in another's shoes. I am highly skilled at appreciating and accepting a client's experiences without judging the difficult positions they may have been in or the decisions they made.
Compassion enables me to help others know that I care about the struggles and disappointments life can bring. I work to strengthen my client's compassion so that they become forgiving of others and themselves.
I model cooperative response in my counseling sessions to ensure an understanding of the importance of working together to establish change. Linking the responses of human interaction helps individuals and groups grow stronger and more confident.
